    John Tuley departed this life at his home in Jackson township on Tuesday, Feb. 21st, 1899, at the ripe old age of 82 years, 11 months, and 24 days. His death was caused by old age and general debility.
    Deceased was born in Daviess Co., Ky., Feb 27th, 1816, was the third son of John and Rachel Tuley, and came to this county with his parents in 1824. He settled in Jackson township in 1836, and lived there the rest of his life. He was one of Spencer County's most useful and substantial citzens, a pioneer who remembered many interesting events in the early history of the county. He remembered Abraham Lincoln when he lived in this county and could recall and relate many interesting happenings in which Honest Abe formed a part. In 1836 he was united in marriage to Nancy Hesson. Seven children were born to this union, four boys and three girls, only three of whom, Wm A Tuley, Mrs Elijah McCoy, and Mrs. Wm. Pierson , survive. Their mother died Sept. 30th, 1851, and in 1853 he was married to Zippora Agan. To them were born five children, four boys and one girl, three of whom are still living, Robert, James, and Keith.
