    Thelma G. Hale, 93, formerly of Evansville, passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2011, at Hospice in Columbus, Indiana. She was born November 12, 1917 in Evansville, Indiana to George L. & Ethel G. Crook. Thelma had 2 brothers, Ronald and Warren Crook.
    She married Thomas R. Hale on September 7th, 1940 in Evansville, Indiana. They were married for 50 Years.
    Thelma was a riveter at the Republic during World War II. She worked for JC Penney for 14 years. After her retirement she became active in the following organizations: Robert Morris Chapter #87 Order of the Eastern Star, where she was a Past Matron, Past Deputy of Eastern Star for the State of Indiana of District #1 which included 6 counties. Past President of Past Matrons and Patrons of Eastern Star, Past President of Ladies Auxiliary of the Eastern Star, Bethlehem Shrine #2, Iris Temple #41 Daughters of the Nile, Honor Ladies of the Hadi Shrine, Amaranth, White Shrine, White Shrine Patrol where she served as a Past President, VFW Auxiliary #1114, Past President of Postal Supervisors Wives Auxiliary and Past President of Ladies Auxiliary of the 624th Ordinance Ammunition Company of World War II. She and her husband loved to camp and fish with their grandchildren and friends. Thelma had a zest for life and lived it to the fullest.
    Thelma was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be missed.
    Preceding Thelma in death were her husband Thomas R. Hale, parents George and Ethel Crook, brothers Ronald Crook, his wife Mary, and Warren Crook.
    She is survived by her son Thomas R. Hale, Jr. (Linda), daughter Deborah S. Schofield, grandson Brian Hale, granddaughters, Stacey Hale, Lori Hale and Melissa Crawford (Brandon), great grandsons Jacob and Collin Crawford and sister-In- Law Bettye Crook.
    Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, April 19, 2011, at Alexander East Chapel, with John Hilbert presiding. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park. Friends may visit Monday, from 4:00 to 8:00PM and Tuesday from 12:00 to 1:00 PM at the funeral home. A memorial service with be presented by Eastern Star on Monday evening at 7:00 pm.
