Either William married vary late, or he had a wife before Rachel, or this William is not a son, but a grandson, of John Stephen. Or perhaps most likely, The John Stephen McFadin Family, in giving John Stephen's birth as about 1700, is off by about twenty years. The book also cites John Stephens will "To William, my Beloved and oldest son . . ." (which means b. ca. 1740 or before), but also says that he married Rachel in 1789.3
