Some sources have Baron Frederic de Beelen taking the name Francis Beelen after the Revolutionary War, with the decision to remain in the new United States of America. It seems that this may have conflated the Baron with his son, Francis.2

Baron Frederic Eugene Francois deBeelen Bertholff [sic], resident minister to the U.S. from Josef II, Emperor of Austria, served 1783-1787. His wife, the Baroness deBeelen (née Marie Theresa de Castro y Toledo), and their only [sic] son, Constantine Antoine (b. in Brussels, 9 Jun 1770), accompanied him to America. Deciding to stay in America after the end of his posting in 1787, they left Philadelphia for Chester Co. PA in the area of Honeybrook, and later removed to York Co. PA, where both he and his wife were buried.[Note: During the Revolutionary War, the Continental Congress left Philadelphia under threat from British troops, and sat at York PA from 30 Sep 1777 to 27 Jun 1778 (https://history.state.gov). The sponsors were by name Lady Marie Theresa Constance deBeelen and Sir Antoine de Castro y Toledo, Toparcka in Zoombeeck, Vandengver; and Lady Carolina and Sir Nicholas deBeelen, husband and wife.
