Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Eva Carroll, 86, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving husband and family June 16, 2017, at the Denali Center in Fairbanks.
Eva was born Sept. 16, 1930, in Fort Yukon, to Paul and Margaret Kelly. She had seven brothers, Robert, John, Paul Jr. (Bo), Amos, Roy, Patrick and Norman. At 16, Eva married Richard C. Carroll. They had eight daughters, Beverly, Mabel, Kathy, Karen, Diane, Christine, Frannie and Velma; and four sons, Richard II, James, Anthony and William.
Their 69th wedding anniversary would have been July 23.
Her family said, "Mom was a forgiving, loving, caring person; never turned a person away." She was known for her beautiful beadwork. She spent many hours beading, making her family new canvas boots, calf skin boots and new parkas and hats for the winter months. Before the holidays, you would find her beading on new slippers for the family.
Early in their marriage, she spent time helping our dad run his coffee shops, making pastries, bread and pies for the bakery she and our dad once had. Our father was an entrepreneur, and our mom was always by his side helping him, as she also ran the household and took great care of their 12 children.
Eva will be missed by many, as so many knew her as a friend, sister-in-law and auntie throughout the Yukon Flats and surrounding areas.
Eva is survived by her husband, Richard Carroll Sr.; daughters, Beverly Beardsley (Mark), Mabel Michael, Karen Carlo, Diane Bridges (David), Christine Rifredi, Frannie Hughes and Velma Carroll; sons, Richard II (Kathy), James (Jennie), Anthony and William Wade; grandchildren, Greg Stover (Missy), Kimberly Carlo, Tamara Morris, Travis Carroll, Shane Hughes, Branden Hughes, Lewis Firmin, Andrew Firmin, Jolene (Brandon), Leon Carroll, Christina Rifredi, Nicolya (Jim), Ronald Rifredi (Kadie), Damon Smith, Gabrielle Vent, Jamie Bridges Jimmie, Sheelene, Kayleen, Karissa, Brittany, Mary Paige, Todd Solomon, Chaz Carroll and Mitchell Carroll; and great-grandchildren, Angelica, Karilee, Joesias, Avril, Emily, Aiden, Carter, Tessa, Thea, Nations, Gavin, Jeanetta, Lynneva, Ethan Hughes, Tori Hughes, Graysen, Walker, Roy, Evonna, Taylor, Tyson, Jesse, Aviana, Liam, Elains, Bliss, Brooklin, Seraphina, Kiley, Kennedy, Kaydence, Alex, Lily and Emma.
