Patrick Mahon Jr. was also known as Mahoney.4 
Patrick Mahon Jr. was also known as Mahan (variant.)5 
Brothers Thomas Jr. and Patrick, shown together only in the 1851 census, and with Patrick witnessing Thomas's burial rites, were both stepsons of William Hartnett after their mother married William Hartnett following the death of Thomas Sr. William Hartnett was a blacksmith, the same trade taken by Patrick. Also, the death certificate for Patrick's dau. Helene (also called Emma) gives Patrick's place of birth as Botsford. The names Mahan, Mahon and Mahoney were often interchanged.6
