Delahunt, Kathleen Theresa – passed away at home on June 10th 2010 shortly after celebrating her 90th birthday.
Kay was born in Melrose N.B., the daughter of Kate (Catherine Sweeney) and Bill Noonan, and educated in Port Elgin and Moncton. She began her career as a teacher in a one-room school house, and had many interesting stories about those days. She later met and married the love of her life, James Austin Delahunt, whose brother had married her sister. Kay was very proud of having worked to put Austin through medical school, and the close network of friends they had during those 'lean' years continued to be dear to her heart right up until the end. She leaves behind her husband Austin (Veteran's Memorial Hospital), her sons Paul and David (Nancy), all of Halifax, and her daughter Susan (Paul Wigginton) of Stellarton; grandchildren Jane and Kevin Delahunt (Halifax) and Marc and Michael Wigginton (Stellarton); her sister Margaret (Peggy) Murray and her brother John, along with numerous sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Mary. Kay was a wonderful wife and mother. A great friend to many, she will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Visitation will be held at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr., Halifax N.S. from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 12th. Kay's funeral mass will be held at Canadian Martyrs Parish on Monday, June 13th at 10:00 a.m., with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, you are invited to make memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or Hope Cottage.
