Annetje Daniels b. c 1623
"Coenradt Ten Eyck ...came from Amsterdam, Holland, and settled in New Amsterdam (New York), America, about 1650 (m. 1st, Maria Boele, the mother of his children, 2nd, Annetje Daniels, without issue), and purchased land in the city on the west side of what is now known as Broad street. New York. In 1674 he was estimated as being worth $5,000, quite a fortune in those days. After his death, 1687, his sons Dirck, Tobias and Coenraedt, succeeded him in the tanning business at New York, and his eldest son, Jacob, migrated to Albany, where his descendants have established for two hundred years. Talcott's Gen. Notes; Family Records. The words "Ten Eyck " mean "from the oak," the oak being the coat of arms of the family. It is believed that the family name was originally Van Eyck, the same family as that of John of Bruges, the celebrated painter, 1370-1441."2
