Pierce was marr. twice (1910 census, obituary). In the 1860 census, he and wife Ann have one child recorded (Bridget), but Mary was born ca. 1857 so should be recorded. This could mean that Ann was Pierce's first wife, mother of Bridget, and that she d. shortly after the 1860 census. The 1870 census has Pierce and Hannora, with Bridget (age 6), Mary (age 13) and five younger children. Looking at the 1900 census, Pierce and "Annie" are marr. 42 yrs. (indicating a marriage ca. 1858, after the birth of both Bridget and Mary); in 1910, the census resords that they were marr. 50 yrs, and that this was Pierce's second marriage and "Anna G"'s first. So, where was Mary in 1860? She is not recorded with Pierce, but Honora's first marr. was to Pierce (at age ca. 22 to 24). In any event, Mary was raised as the daughter of Pierce and Honora, and this genealogy will report it that way.2 | ||
