Juanita May West passed away peacefully on December 6, 2015, at the age of 86 in Longmont. She was born on November 11, 1929 in Seattle, WA to Anthony and Josephine (Berry) LeGaz. She grew up as the youngest of nine children in the Ballard area of Seattle. On January 5, 1957 she married Duane F. West, the love of her life and husband for over 58 years. Together they moved from San Diego to Snowmass Village where they raised four children. Juanita enjoyed working for the Aspen Ski Corp for many years. She and Duane retired to Longmont in 1996. Juanita loved the outdoors and was an avid reader, gardener and apple pie maker. She was also fond of camping, fishing, skiing and dancing. Trying her luck at the slots in Blackhawk was one of Juanita's great joys, but her biggest joy was in doing the things she loved with her family and friends. She is survived by her husband Duane of Longmont, daughters Kathleen (Craig) Blockwick of Boulder and Debra (Michael) Hale of Ft. Collins, sons Duane (Shelley) West of Longmont and Christopher (Madeline) West of Boulder, seven grandchildren, Cassandra, Jeffrey, Andrew, Alison, Erik, Kyle and Nicoline, her sisters Helen Koob of Kirkland, WA and Irene Nicholson of Yorba Linda, CA, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Anthony LeGaz, George LeGaz, John LeGaz, Eugene LeGaz, and William LeGaz and a sister, Evelyn Roach. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Longmont.
