"Service in the Continental line; sergt; ensign; lieutenant. After his return from the Rev. War in 1781, his father gave him a tract of 185 acres of land in Buckland. here he lived, on what has since been known as the "Alfred Woodward place," until his brother Othniel, who had the "Fort Farm" or homestead, removed to Canandaiqua, when he moved over the river, and buying out Othniel and the other heirs in 1792, spent the rest of his life there."2
