"undoubtedly the oldest printer in the country, and, for a period of almost seventy years had stood almost daily at the case, and when advancing years came upon him, to remind him that there was a limit to labor and a time for rest, his love for the craft was such that he still held on and refused to succumb to time. Up to a period within a few days of his death he was remarkably active, both physically and mentally, and his decline into the grave was a most happy close to a well-spent life."7
