Original claim admitted 29 Nov 1865, pension to commence as of 20 Sep 1864. Hannah M Silk, wid., res. Mt. Lebanon, Allegheny Co. PA, marr. Joseph H Silk 23 Apr 1861 as shown by church record. "The Surgeon General reports that the soldier died Sept 20th 1864, of gunshot wound of left wrist received in action." Widow's declaration of 23 Nov 1864 states that Joseph H Silk was wounded at [illegible] Station near Atlanta, 7 Aug 1864, and d. at General Hospital No. 2, Chattanooga TN, 20 Sep 1864. Names as her attorney N P Fetterman, 137 Fourth St., Pittsburgh PA. Witn. A M Fetterman and C S Fetterman.
    Adjutant General's report states that Joseph H Silk had enlisted 10 Jan 1864, for the period of five years, and d. as described above.
    Affidavit of Hannah M McNeilly, age 75 and res. of Dormant Station, Pittsburgh PA, dated 16 May 1918, requesting reinstatement of her pension. Claimant states that she remarr. to Joseph McNeilly 1 Jan 1873, and that at that time the pension accrued to her dau. Josephine (b. 26 Sep 1864), and that her husb. Joseph McNeilly d. 30 Jan 1918. Further affidavits are made to correct the original application, which stated that Hannah had no children, (which was true at the time of her husband's death). The affiants include her brother Charles (who helped in the preparation of the original application), and Mrs. Anna M Fetterman and Mrs. Rebecca McFarland. Further documents give the soldier's name as Joseph Harrison Silk; his sister's name Elizabeth Silk.
