  3. [S520] VWH, Lovina had the surname Edgar in the 1850 census, and her death certificate and other census records have Joseph Edgar as her father. However, she was born ca. 1842 and her mother Emeline married Joseph Edgar in 1846, with the marriage record giving her name as Emeline Beets. Importantly, Joseph named only one daughter in his will, Mary Ashton. This genealogy presumes that Lovina was the daughter of Emeline by a marriage to Beets, and she considered herself as the daughter of Joseph Edgar, her father from the age of four.
