| | Both Mathews and Purple also give Trÿntje's family name as Cregier, but do not suggest any relationship to Capt. Martin Cregier. Trÿntje was born in The Hague (marr. rec.) while Capt. Cregier was from Borken and his children were born in Borken, Amsterdam (probably) and New Amsterdam. Of the marriage of Trÿntje and Nicasius, Purple says it was "an alliance which proved the source of great unhappiness to both parties. By his second wife, from whom he separated by mutual agreement in 1668-9, he had no family." Mathews states that they "had no children. In 1668, a serious misunderstanding ended in their separation." |
