His parents were Peter Mundy and Marguerite Corrigan. He married Catherine Mullanphy and they had three children. Philip, his wife and children and his brothers, Felix, Bernard and Patrick, emigrated from Ireland in the 1820s and settled in Potosi, Missouri. Catherine died and Philip married Marie Govereau, daughter of Pierre Govereau and Marie Missé, 11 September 1828. They had eleven children. Their youngest son, Bernard, was born 25 August 1850. He married Julia Higgins, daughter of Dennis Higgins and Mary Harmon. They had nine known children. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in Missouri."
