"On October 25, 1828, John Casey, Andrew Casey, Peter Smith and John Brown, natives of the Kingdom of Great Britain appeared in the Circuit Court at Potosi and made proof to the court that they had resided within the limits of the United States the time required by law and within the limits of the state of Missouri one year immediately preceding this application. And that during their residence had behaved as good moral characters. They declared on ther oath in open court that they would support the Constitution of the United States and foreswear allegiance to George, the fourth, King of Great Britain. They were admitted as citizens of the United States."
