    Sister Florence E. Delahunt (1923-2012). The death of Sister Florence E. Delahunt (Sr. M. Elaine) occurred on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at the Ruth Ross Residence. Sister was born in Moncton, NB on September 17, 1923; she was a daughter of the late William Patrick Delahunt and Sally Agnes (Donovan) Delahunt. Sister Florence graduated from High School from the Commercial Department. She worked for seven years in the clerical department of the Royal Canadian Air Force Supply Depot and entered the convent on February 2, 1949. Sister Florence worked as an admitting Clerk at St. Joseph’s Hospital from 1951 to 1971. She was then missioned as General Secretary from 1971 to 1977 at St. Vincent’s Convent. She did some Pastoral Care while at St. Joseph’s Convent from 1978 to 1979. Sr. worked at the Catholic Bookstore from 1979 to 1980. Sr. Florence did general house duties from 1980 to 1983 at St. Vincent’s Convent. She resided at St. Vincent’s Convent and worked as a hospital volunteer until she retired to Ruth Ross Residence in 2011. Sister Florence is survived by her sisters, Rita (Murphy) Delahunt, Sister Maureen Delahunt (Daughters of Charity) and Ann (Provost) Delahunt; one brother, J. Austin Delahunt; four nieces, four grand-nieces, five nephews and four grand-nephews. Predeceased by her parents, sister, Mary Pauline Delahunt and brother, Edwin J. Delahunt.
    Visiting was held at the Ruth Ross Residence on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm with a Prayer Vigil that evening at 7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in the Ruth Ross Residence Carmel Chapel on Friday, February 24, 2012 at 10:00 am. Interment took place in the Sisters of Charity Plot in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Fitzpatrick’s Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo Street, Saint John.
