He immigrated to the States with his parents (Johann Peter and Dorita) in 1709 from Niederhausen, Bad Kreuznach, Kolenz, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany.
He, along with his parents settled in New York (Kingston). Kingston and much of New York is primarily a Dutch community.
Pieter married Johanna Catherina Kieffer (Kiever) (my 6th Great Grandmother) on 29 Sep 1723 in Kingston, New York.
They were married in the Old Dutch Church, which was organized in 1659, “ The Reformed Protestant Dutch Church of Kingston, NY” familiarly known as “ Old Dutch”, is the 6th oldest Reformed Church in America.
The marriage is recorded this way: “PIETER MEY, j.m., and CATRINA KIEVER, j. d., both parties born in Hoogduytsland (Germany), and resid. in the Co. of Albanyen (Albany). Banns Registered, 29 Sept.” "
