Sterling was born in Surry, Prince Edward Island, Canada, on Dec. 15, 1935, to the late John Joseph and Margaret MacCabe Creamer.
He was a graduate of St. Dunnston University, Charlottletown, Prince Edward Island, and Balhousie University School of Engineering at Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Sterling was an extremely active member of Rivermont Presbyterian Church where he also served as a deacon and loved being involved with the mission work. He retired from TVA and Bechtel as an electrical engineer and after his retirement he was tireless in his support of members of the church and others in need.
Sterling was an avid reader and his grandchildren brought joy to his life.
Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by two siblings, Kevin and Nebbile Creamer.
Sterling is survived by his wife of 14 years, Linda Regan Creamer; four children, Mark Creamer, Rachael (Bill) Moormann, David Middleton and Amanda Middleton; seven grandchildren, Olivia, Natalie, Rebecca, Jesse, Blake, Alyssa and Abigail; three siblings, Louise Graves, Norma Morrissey and Claude Creamer; several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 11, at Rivermont Presbyterian Church with Dr. Daniel Sansbury officiating.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. today in the Commons at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Mission Fund or Habit for Humanity at Rivermont Presbyterian Church, 3319 Hixson Pike, and Chattanooga, TN 37415.
