That Catherine, dau. of Denis and Ellen, is the same as the Catherine Mahoney who marr. Patrick Mahan Jr. (marr. not yet found in records), is supported by: 1. While she is recorded as age 13 in the 1851 census with her parents, the second child listed (after John D), a birth year of ca. 1838 lies between siblings' birth dates of Ca. 1837 and 1839. Also, a birth year of 1835, as Catherine the wife of Patrick reported in the 1901 census, better fits with the marr. of her parents in 1833, making her their first child. 2. Catherine was a sponsor for the bapt. of her sister's dau. Mary Theresa in 1871. 3. Less compelling is the baptism record of Catherine and Patrick's dau. Honora. The sponsors' names are difficult to read in the image, but they may be Patrick Sweeney and Ellen Sweeney, poss. Catherine's siblings (though Patrick would have been about 14 years of age).2 | ||
