| | "In 1534, as the Protestant Reformation was just beginning to manifest itself in the Netherlands, Arent (or Adriaan) Jans de Lint and his wife formed, in their house in the Coppoenstraat in Brielle, a group of Nieuwgezinden or religious dissenters. Their defiance of the established church was shortlived, as in June of the same year the group broke up and Arent and Anneke fled to England."3 |
