"On November 1, 1844, Thomas Casey, a native of Ireland, appeared at the Circuit Court at Potosi and prayed to become a citizen of the United States. Daniel Bryan and Francis Casey made oath that Thomas Casey resided in the United States three years preceeding his majority. Including those three years he had resided in the United States five years and one year in Missouri. He swore to support the Constitution of the United States and foreswore allegiance to Victoria, Queen of Great Britain. He was admitted as a citizen."
