"The next is dated July 27, 1826 and reads: "Be it remembered that on the 27th day of June, 1826, Morgan Casey, a native of the Kingdoms of Great Britain and born in the County of Cork in Ireland, a subject of the King of Great Britain, appeared in open court and proved to the satisfaction and of the court that he arrived in the United States about 1820 then a minor of the age of about 18 years, that he has resided in the United States more than five years including the years of minority and more than one year in the state of Missouri, immediately preceding this application and pays to be admitted a citizen of the United States. And the said Morgan Casey declaring upon both that it is 'bona fide' his intention to become a citizen of the United States and to renounce all allegiance and fidelity to every foreign prince, power, potentate, state or sovereignty and particularly to George, the fourth, king of a Great Britain and Ireland. And the court, moreover, being satisfied of the good moral character of the said Morgan Casey and his attachment to the Constitution of the United States and well disposed to the a limit order and happiness of the same he is therefore admitted a citizen of the United States." The certificate was issued Feb. 15, 1827."
