The funeral of Mrs. Jane Cale, notice of whose death appeared in the last issue of the News, was held at 2:30 o'clock Saturday [21 Sep] afternoon. A large audience of friends and relatives attended. Rev. Harry Lett, pastor of the Christian Church, preached the funeral discourse, and the choir rendered two selections. A mixed quartet one. The remains were interred in the Poseyville cemetery. Jane Cale, daughter of Maxey and Nancy Jolly, was born April 14, 1825. She died September 19, 1918, aged 93 years, 5 months and 5 days. At the tender age of 13 years she united with the Christian Church at Bethsaida. After the removal to the farm near Poseyville she became one of the charter members of the Christian Church of Poseyville. In the year 1850 she was married to James Cale. There came to bless their home, five children--three daughters, Anna, Della and Sidney, two sons, Oscar and Maxey. The lives of Mr. and Mrs. Cale were also blessed with ten grandchildren. The husband departed to the bright world June 16, 1905. One daughter and one son survive, also one sister.
