Children: Lenora Eva Shelton Capps (1888 - 1953). Bur. Nelson Cemetery, Nelson, Nuckolls Co. NE, block 4, lot 3. Citation The Nelson Gazette, Thursday, January 4, 1923:Mrs. George E. Shelton. Ida Lenora Leeds, daughter of John E. and Rachael Leeds, was born in Addaville, Indiana, December 13, 1863, and passed away from scenes of earth on January 3, 1923, at the age of 59 years and 20 days. Her parents moved to Guide Rock, Nebraska, while she was a mere child, and assisted in building up the West. In 1882, July 1st, she was united in marriage to George E. Shelton and until 1896 lived on a farm on the Blue River, from whence they moved to Nelson and have made their home here since. To this union was born four daughters, Ethel Elizabeth passed away at four years of age. The other daughters are Edith Emma iRinger (sic), Mt. Hood, Oregon; Nettie Kate Wise and Eva Lenora Capps both of Nelson, Nebr. She also leaves four brothers: John Leeds, Charles Leeds, Edgar Leeds of Nelson; and George B. Leeds of Hastings. Ten grandchildren are also left to mourn.
When in her youth the deceased made a confession of her faith in Christ and united with the Evangelical church. On coming to Nelson she transferred her membership to the Presbyterian church of which she has been a consistent member for twenty-two years. Her faith in God was steadfast until the last, when she was ushered into the presence of her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Unassuming and kind to everyone, she will be missed among her circle of friends, and sadly missed in her home where she filled her position so full. A Godly, dutiful mother, can any one estimate her worth, giving her very life for her children, for she was a real mother.
She leaves to mourn her death, besides her husband, children and other relatives, a host of friends.
The funeral services were conducted at the home in the Lincoln Land Co. Addition, by Rev. S.H. Jones assisted by Rev. H.G. Wilcox on Thursday afternoon at 2:30.
